The profiles of angiology and vascular surgery academic leagues and their effectiveness in specialty education
Conclusions The angiology and vascular surgery academic leagues in the state of S ão Paulo all function in a similar manner, but the range of theoretical, practical and scientific activities they offer are not uniform. For the sample investigated, the academic leagues appear to be effective at teaching angiology and vascular surgery during undergraduate courses.

Latex balloons: an alternative, low-cost model for vascular anastomosis training in medical education

Thirty-three vascular residency programs among 13 countries joining forces to improve surgical education in times of COVID-19: A survey-based assessment.
CONCLUSION: Globalization and technology provide an opportunity for international education, with the goal of building well-rounded and academic vascular surgeons. This group is just the beginning of a large collaborative group among Hispanic American countries, hoping that more residency programs will join, with the aim of breaking borders in the education of vascular surgery. Validated Assessment Tool Paves the Way for Standardized Evaluation of Trainees on Anastomotic Models
Conclusions: Performance on an open simulation model evaluated by a standardized global rating scale correlated to trainee experience level. This initial work confirms the ease and applicability of the grading tool among multiple expert observers and different platforms, and supports additional; research into applications translating this performance into the operating room.

A survey of 0 + 5 vascular surgery residency candidates: Perceptions of an applicant pool.
CONCLUSION: Applicants remained positive about their planned training and career paths. Attending vascular surgeons were identified as the strongest mentors, yet most students decided only in their third and fourth years to pursue 0 + 5 residencies. Educational debt remains a concern, and there may be consideration for a concerted effort to recruit potential candidates sooner. PMID: 26864776 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Recent trends in publications of US vascular surgery program directors.
Conclusion There seems to be a significant decline in the number of publications over the last 15 years. Yet, the subject of the publications has progressed from Open to TEVAR with an increase in endovascular publications. However, basic science publications reduced by half. Resident Views on Vascular Ultrasonography Education: A Canadian Perspective
With the requirement to obtain RPVI certification as of 2014 in American vascular surgery programs, formal vascular ultrasound (VUS) training is expected in vascular surgery training. Canadian programs, however, do not have the same credentialing requirements, and not all programs have formal VUS training. We sought to determine whether Canadian trainees desire additional VUS training, how this training should be delivered, and what role they see VUS playing in their future practice.

An Intensive Surgical Skills and Simulation Course For Vascular Trainees Improves Procedural Knowledge and Self-Rated Procedural Competence
Surgical skills and simulation courses are emerging to meet the demand for vascular simulation training, but their educational effect has not been described. We sought to determine the effect of an intensive vascular surgical skills and simulation course on the procedural knowledge and self-rated procedural competence of vascular trainees and to assess participant feedback regarding the course.

V-Aware: The Impact of Patient-Centric Vascular Awareness and Education Initiatives
Patients often have limited understanding of vascular risk factors, vascular health, and the various specialties that manage vascular disease. To better understand these gaps in patients' awareness and education, we conducted a survey-based study among patients who have been diagnosed with vascular disease.

Outcomes of the V-Healthy Awareness Campaign That Empowers High-School Students to Understand and Diagnose Vascular Disease Risk Factors
Just imagine the impact of empowering young high-school students to become the Sherlock Holmes of vascular health and disease. V-Healthy is a grassroots vascular education and awareness campaign that educates high-school students of the importance of vascular disease risks they face today and its impact decades later.

Integrated Residency Is Associated With an Increase in Women Among Vascular Surgery Trainees
During the past decade, the proportion of women within graduate medical education (GME) has increased. Correspondingly, the proportion of women in almost every specialty has increased, including surgical specialties. We sought to evaluate the effect of establishing vascular surgery integrated residencies (VSIRs) on the proportion of women in vascular surgery (VS) training programs.

An Analysis of the Current Educational Courses Offered to Vascular Trainees
Whereas there is increasing evidence that short educational courses provide a valuable supplement to vascular surgical training, there are few data regarding the prevalence, content, and educational goals of these programs. Our objective was to catalogue the available extraresidency experiences available to vascular trainees in North America.
